Smyrna is located about 10 miles northwest of Atlanta in Cobb County, GA. It was incorporated in 1872. In 1991 Smyrna started to revitalize the city. They started with the Smyrna Market Village and have continued with developing Atlanta road and other parts of Smyrna with housing projects, shops, and restaurants. The Smyrna Market Village project created a very well defined downtown that includes the public library,community center,government offices,parks, restaurants, and shops. It is a short Drive to Marietta Square, Vinings, Cumberland Mall, Cobb Galleria Center, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, and both I75 and I285.
The number one reason people move to Smyrna is location. It is one of the most centrally located cities in Atlanta. Being just 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta, and only 30 minutes from just about everywhere else, makes it a highly desirable location.
