Recently I got my certification for Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES).  It was an important certification to me because I have always had an interest in working with aging individuals.  Back when I was at the University of Nebraska, I took a course in Gerontology and was very interested in that field.  In 1994 the field was not as big and there were not many places that offered Gerontology as a bachelors degree.  I decided that some day I would expand on my interest.  In 2000, I went to University of West Georgia and got my graduate degree in Gerontology.  Now, I used my background in gerontology to get certified as an SRES.

I got my Seniors Real Estate Specialist because I see a real need to help individuals and their families with planning and transitioning into the next phase of life.  It is tough subject to talk about, but having an expert that will take the time to educate and assist in the transition is very important.  With people living longer and having a variety of needs there are lots of different options and it can be very  overwhelming.

As a Seniors Real Estate Specialist I can guide someone through:

  • A solid comprehension of Federal laws for Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA)

  • Sensitivity to 50+ issues and priorities

  • Planning and transition into the next phases of life

  • Knowledge and understanding of the different housing options available

  • Assist you with all aspects of the transition process and provide excellent resources for any service you might need

These are just a few topics and there are so many other topics that I can help with.  Feel free to call me if you have any questions or if you know someone who could use my services.  I would be happy to assist any way I can.
